Great British Budget Menu - Format

1hr episodes

Around the globe food prices have risen astronomically, hitting household budgets hard. Now, millions of people are struggling to feed themselves properly, living on daily food budgets that are less than many of us would spend on a cappuccino. In this hard hitting spin off of The Great British Menu, 3 leading chefs come face-toface with one of the world’s most pressing problems: food poverty.

The chefs will live with people who are finding it hard to make ends meet and discover how hard it can be to put tasty food on the table when you’re living on the breadline. Next the chefs will be challenged to raise awareness of food poverty with the people who can do something about it. The chefs’ Budget Banquet challenge is to cook cheap nutritious meals for next to nothing for the Great British Menu judges. Invited to taste the chefs’ food and discuss the issues are politicians, high street supermarket representatives, well-known faces and significant people from the charity world. Can the Budget Banquet team help make food poverty history?
