The world’s most important centre of botanical expertise, Kew Gardens, becomes the home of a brand new kitchen garden in Kew on a Plate – an educational series which sees Raymond Blanc and Kate Humble take over Kew Gardens, create a vast kitchen garden, cook the produce and tell the story of our relationship with fruit and vegetables
A new fruit and vegetable garden is created on the site of Kew’s original vast Georgian kitchen garden, where world famous chef Raymond Blanc and nature expert Kate Humble grow, harvest, and cook seasonal produce to create delicious dishes.
With a lifetime’s passion for fruit and veg and their unique flavours, Raymond and Kate explore the extraordinary stories behind the ingredients – from the excitement that met the arrival of the first pineapples in the UK, to the broad beans that were smuggled from France in a pair of stockings during World War II.
As the world’s greatest botanic repository, Kew supports the project with unparalleled expertise accumulated over 250 years of plant growing – helping to reveal the fascinating heritage of some of the nation’s favourite fruit and veg.
